I became “infected” with photography at the age of 17. My first camera was given to me by my parents, a Pentax K1000 35mm SLR. Little did I know how that one gift would influence the next 35 years of my life.
I remember so clearly how the camera felt in my hands. I loaded that first role of film, jumped in my old '67 Mustang and drove down to the river to create the “best picture ever”. Along the water I found this beautifully weathered blue and white dinghy. I must have spent a half hour with that little boat, confident that I was creating the best picture anyone had ever seen!
Well, the images from that first roll were not so great, but that was unimportant. What was important was the incredible excitement I had and the crazy need to share my little 4 x 6 prints. To this day, that excitement and need to share is as strong as ever.
That experience, still so crystal clear in my mind, is what inspired me to take on this new endeavor. After more than 25 years of working on projects with my advertising clients as well as the never ending journey of shooting for myself, it is time to edit down the piles of images. Time to share.
